Since I always check Rootsweb first to look for connections to my lines, I would prefer if you would post it there.

If you have your own website, though, the webcrawlers will find your information much easier and folks googling your names will find them ever so quickly. If you are interested in putting your info on your own server, check out phpgedview.com
References :
personal usage

RootsWeb World Connect is my first choice. It is insanely popular.

GenCircles has a neat feature called "Matching" - if your individual matches another person's indiviual, they put a little icon next to it.

If one of your lines goes back to Charlemagne you get a gazillion matches on the famous ones, but on the later, non-famous non-Charlemagne ones it is handy.
References :
You can download GEDCOMs to Ancestry.com. You can open up a free account and post your file. I LOVE ancestry.com and now use it as my primary family tree program OVER Family Tree Maker. One thing I love about it is that it's much easier to see relationships. Another great thing is that you can send your family members access to your tree and they can contribute to it, whether names, stories, etc. Also, if you have any areas or names you're still stuck on, you can find others on their message boards who also have those names on their trees and may be distant relatives and may help you. I highly recommend it.
